Sweet Briar Returns

Sweet Briar College was about to close its doors after 114 years of operation. But it turns out it won’t be shutting down after all. The all-women’s school struggled with dwindling enrollment and other problems. An alumni group raised more than 20 million dollars in pledges to keep the doors open, but the school’s survival is still deeply in doubt. This week on the podcast, Jon Marcus of Hechinger Report says Sweet Briar was suffering from many of the ills that face small colleges across the country.
